Ethnic Albanians protest in Presevo

PRESEVO, Serbia-Montenegro -- About a thousand ethnic Albanians gathered for a protest on Saturday (8 April) in Presevo, southern Serbia, demanding more rights and sustainable solutions to the problems in the region. Demonstrators raised banners calling for the demilitarisation of the area, as well as for the granting of more powers to the multiethnic police there. Addressing participants in the rally, the acting mayor of Presevo, Ragmi Mustafa, stressed that the ethnic Albanians in southern Serbia must seek resolution of their problems exclusively by peaceful means.
